Group Analysis North (GAN) is an association of individuals in the North of England, who are interested in the ideas and practice of Group Analysis and Group Psychotherapy. On behalf of The Institute of Group Analysis (IGA, London), GAN runs three block weekend training courses in Group Analysis at introductory, intermediate and qualifying levels, leading to UKCP registration and membership of the IGA. These courses attract students from not only the UK but also from the rest of the world.

GAN is part of an extensive network of group-analytic associations and training centres in UK & Europe. GAN is the hub of various activities promoting interest and training in, and knowledge of, groups and their dynamics, including: group analytic supervision; workshops; group analysis and psychoanalysis seminars; median group; work reflection group and therapy-only.

Students enrolled on the Manchester Foundation Course will have the option of obtaining a Graduate Certificate offered by Birkbeck College, University of London.

GAN is a charity and its objectives are: to develop the theory and practice of group analysis; to develop and provide vocational training and education in group analysis among members of the medical, nursing and other related caring professions and educationalists; and to support the provision of group analysis as widely as possible for the general public especially to those groups disadvantaged by hardship or other adverse conditions.
